A Day On My Shoes

In thinking about the concept behind the execution of the project, it turned out to be more challenging than I thought. Executing involved a lot of taping since it was raining and messed up the taping and glue several times. Throughout the day I felt compelled to do things that I do not normally do. But I wanted this to be just a record of a regular day, nothing extraordinary. Just a day in the life. This meant not doing things like skipping down Spring Garden because I don’t normally skip down Spring Garden or sauntering down Highland since I’m not even sure how you saunter. I think that sticking to my regular day and sticking to a 24 hour time frame were important rules to follow. They made every action important and they also made every non action important. If you are sitting still in class for 2 hours, that is 2 hours that marks are not being made on the plate. Thus not making is just as important or possibly more important than making marks because it allows other marks to show through where as they could have been overshadowed, crowded, or eradicated by marks being made during that time. Not making a mark is an action just like making a mark is an action and it is all a part of the 24 hours and a part of the final work.
