N.C. STAAATE
Oil on canvas
48" h x 36" w This work was inspired by my experiences at my first alma mater, NC State. The composition is primarily comprised of the iconic bell tower of the university. A cloud in the shape of NC indicates the location of NCSU in Raleigh by a star. The text along the edges is from the lyrics to the alma mater for the university. The alma mater is sung at all sporting events and toward the end "Our hearts ever hold you" is followed by all the fans screaming at the top of their lungs "N.C. STAAATE" before it concludes with "in the folds of our love and pride". My hope is that viewers of the painting that have been to a game can remember that experience as they interact with the artwork. |
